Atlanta, GA – July 7, 2015 – The fastest and most powerful race cars to touch the 3/8 mile high banked racing surface at famed Batesville Motor Speedway this season, the United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint cars, invade the speedway on Friday, July 10th at 7:30 pm. The winged sprint cars of the USCS are the headliners of the speedway’s “Thunder in the Grove” speed spectacular. The series will be making its first appearance at BMS since the 2012 season. This event was originally scheduled for last Friday, but, was rained out and re-scheduled..
The USCS winged sprint cars reach speeds over 120 miles per hour at undeniably Arkansas’ fastest oval track. The USCS event is expected to bring top winged outlaw style sprint car drivers from at least five states to the w dirt clay oval track located at 4090 Heber Springs Rd., Locust Grove, Arkansas.
An action packed USCS presented by K&N Filters sprint car racing program on Friday night will include test and tune hot laps followed by the evening’s first sprint car race, the Hoosier Tire USCS Speed Dash that showcases the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in an edge-of-your-seat six-car shootout. The dash will be followed by a series of qualifying heat races. The evening’s grand finale will be the 30-lap USCS sprint car A-main event.
The event, for the sprint car drivers, will award USCS National Championship points as well as USCS Mid-South Thunder Tour regional series Championship points. The USCS Mid-South Thunder regional series primarily consists of races in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and West Tennessee
Noted USCS Batesville entries include Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who was the 2012 USCS National Champion and 11-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee are entered as is 2014 National Champion, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas.
Also expected to enter is 2012 USCS Batesville Motor Speedway feature winner Anthony Nicholson from Millington, Tennessee. Nicholson was a six time 2014 USCS feature winner. Also entered is the current USCS National point’s leader, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee. The 22 year-old Turpen is the only female sprint car driver in the field and leads the USCS Mid South regional point standings as well. She will be joined on the entry list by past series Champion, Marshall Skinner also from Marion, Arkansas.
Talented Rookie of the Year point’s leader, Nick Snyder from Marco Island, Florida who has one feature win in his first full season with the series and ranks third in the National point standings is entered as well.
Other expected entries include local Batesville resident Mike Pack Also on the expected list is Robert Richardson from Pang burn, Arkansas and Kenneth Jackson from Searcy, Arkansas. The 2012 USCS Rookie of the Year, Jeff Willingham from Ripley, Mississippi and 2013 USCS Rookie of the Year, Curt Terrell from Bartlett, Tennessee, are both expected as is Justin Webb from Drummonds, Tennessee and Ronny Howard from Nesbit, Mississippi are also expected in addition to other drivers.
The busy racing card also includes the speedway’s IMCA Modified, Street Stock, Hobby and Factory Stock divisions to add plenty of door-to-door and fender rubbing racing action to the event. All in all after the preliminary qualifying races in each division, there are over 75+ laps of main events in five of the area’s most popular racing divisions to enjoy.
