Labor Day weekend USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour starts Friday

September 1, 2015 – Atlanta, GA – The United Sprint Car Series “Outlaw Thunder” Tour presented by K&N Filters www.uscsracing.com winged sprint cars are set to compete at three dirt ovals lcated in Northeastern Georgia and Western North Carolina this coming weekend from Friday until Monday. The events are part of the series’ annual Labor Day weekend swing. The USCS drivers get three chances over the upcoming Holiday weekend to be the first to reach the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane.

 

On Friday, September 4th the traveling series drivers make their first stop of the weekend when they compete at Lavonia Speedway. in Lavonia, Georgia. That speedway was on the original 1997 United Sprint Car Series schedule and has been a regular stop most seasons for the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour.

 

On Saturday night the series returns to Harris Motor Speedway near Rutherfordton, North Carolina for the fifth time in its history. Last season, the current USCS Southern Thunder Tour point’s leader, Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina got the win before a capacity crowd at the fast 3/8 mile clay oval.

 

The series will take off for the Sabbath Day and to make repairs on Sunday before returning to action on Labor Day Monday at Ray Cook’s Tri County Racetrack in Brasstown, North Carolina. The 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year and 6-time 2014 USCS feature winner Anthony Nicholson from Millington, Tennessee parked his #16 in the wwwrockauto.com USCS Victory Lane last Labor Day.

 

All three of these drivers and a strong contingent of past champions, current rookie of the year contenders and past rookie f the year drivers plus their challengers are entered for the Labor Day weekend USCS winged sprint car action at each of these tracks.

 

This is the one and only visit scheduled during the 2015 season for the USCS presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars to each of these speedways. Each race will award USCS National points as well as points in the USCS Southern Thunder regional series title chase.

The Southern Thunder regional series races in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Carolinas.USCS Mid South Thunder.

 

Each event is also a bonus race opportunity for drivers from the USCS Mid South Thunder regional series that normally consists of races scheduled in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.

 

This three-night, three-track special events are expected to bring top winged outlaw type sprint car drivers from at least eight states to the tracks. The exotic fire breathing, alcohol burning, 700 horsepower open wheel cars weight just 1,300 pounds, Winged sprint cars are pound for pound the World’s most powerful short track race cars.

 

Each night’s USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour sprint car action will feature a full program of racing that kicks off with test and tune hot laps. Hot laps will be followed by the Hoosier Speed Dash that showcases the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in an edge-of-your-seat six-car shootout.  The qualifying heat races are next on the racing card. The evening’s grand finale will be the USCS presented by K&N Filters A-main event.

In addition to the winged sprint cars, racing in the track’s Late Model and/or Stock Car divisions will join the action-packed sprint car racing programs at each track.
