Knoxville, IA — (December 9, 2015) –It will be a new beginning for sprint car driver, Wayne Johnson in 2016. There are a number of changes in store, including the formation of 2c Racing, owned by Wayne’s longtime supporters, Todd and Kelly Carlile and the whole Carlile family. An ambitious schedule is planned again, with a focus on the ASCS National tour.
Wayne finished 2015 strongly, and is looking forward to next year. “Unlike this past season, we’re going in to 2016 with some consistency in our cars and components,” he says. “We’ll be on Eagle Chassis, Outlaw Wings, Slade Shocks, Weld Wheels and Fisher Racing Engines.”
First up will be the Winter Heat Series at Cocopah Speedway near Yuma, Arizona. “Our schedule will begin in Yuma on January 1,” says Wayne. “We’re going to run the ASCS National tour as well as some select 410 shows. We’re looking at an 80-race schedule.”
Wayne has owned his own team the past several seasons. Turning ownership over should take some strain off the team. “It’s going to take some of the load off of me for sure,” he says. “We’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been able to look up to be honest. We started from scratch with this team. I don’t know that one part is the same. But eventually, I think it will make it easier.”
The crew is forming up nicely too. “We still have ‘Slip’ (Conner Nelson),” says Wayne. “In the next 30 days, we’ll be announcing another crew member as well. In the meantime, our interim crew chief, Josh Hegwood, has been working with us here in the shop. We have a new truck and trailer as well.”
Many of the same marketing partners that Wayne Johnson Racing had will be involved with 2c Racing. “We’re still waiting on a couple of sponsors,” he says. “Oil Medics, City Vending, Sebastian Sandblasting and Powder Coating and Outlaw Wings are back on. We have Simpson, Rod End Supply, Chris Archer with Hoosier, Butler Built, Speedway Graphics, and some of the other partners we’ve been fortunate enough to have in the past.”
