April 17, 2016 – Atlanta, GA – The United Sprint Car Series “Outlaw Thunder” Tour presented by K&N Filters (www.uscsracing.com) winged sprint cars are set for their first-ever invasion of I-75 Raceway this Friday night (April 22nd) for an event entitled ”Freakin’ Fast Friday” The special FRIDAY night event is race number seven of the series’ 50 race 20th anniversary season. A strong contingent of USCS drivers from at least seven states are expected to compete for a chance to be the first one to the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane at a new venue for the series on Friday night. The one-third mile red clay I-75 Raceway oval is located in Niota (Sweetwater), Tennessee.
This is the one and only scheduled visit during the 2016 season for the USCS presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars to I-75 Raceway. The event will award USCS National points as well as points in the USCS Mid South Thunder and USCS Southern Thunder regional series title chases. The USCS Mid South Thunder regional series consists of races scheduled in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. The Southern Thunder regional series races in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Carolinas.
The USCS headline division (winged sprint cars) will be joined by the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints. Also on the racing card are the speedway’s Limited Late Model, Sportsman, B-Hobby, Thunder, Four Cylinder and Front Wheel Drive divisions with a complete racing card of their own in each division.
The I-75 Raceway event is expected to bring top winged outlaw type sprint car drivers from at least seven states to the track. The exotic fire breathing, alcohol burning, 700 horsepower open wheel cars weight just 1,300 pounds, Winged sprint cars are pound for pound the World’s most powerful short track race cars.
Friday y night’s USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters sprint car action will feature a full program of racing that kicks off with test and tune hot laps. The hot laps will be followed by the Hoosier Speed Dash that showcases the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in an edge-of-your-seat six-car shootout. The USCS qualifying heat races are next on the sprint car racing card. The evening’s grand finale will be the USCS presented by K&N Filters A-main event. Thewww.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints will compete in an almost identical format as the sprint cars.
On Saturday night (April 23rd) the two USCS sprint car divisions invade Smoky Mountain Speedway for “Race Rockin’ the Smokies” presented by WIMZ Classic Rock 103.5. The program features another high-speed action-packed racing card that also includes the Southern All Star Late Models for an event the pays $5000 to win the Dirt Late Model portion of the event.
Pit area gates open at 4:00 pm on Friday with spectator grandstand gates opening at 5:00 pm. Racing action kicks off at 7:30 pm. Spectator grandstand admission is $20 for Adults. Children from 6 yrs. to 11 yrs. old are $5 and Children 5 yrs. and under are FREE.
