Belleville, IL – This weekend, the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series and Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget Series make the annual trek to Valley Speedway on Friday, May 6th and kick off the Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals. Saturday, both series will visit the title-sponsor owned, incredible “Diamond of Dirt Tracks,” Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri to round out the weekend. The Speedway Motors POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Series will take the weekend off and resume racing at Belle-Clair Speedway on May 13th.
In the friendly rivalry of National Series versus West Series competition, the West series is two-for-two after the season opening Turnpike Challenge in which Matt Sherrell took night number one and Jason McDougal took night number two, allowing the West Series bragging rights going into the Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals.
Heading into the Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals, Zach Daum holds the top spot in the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series standings with a 60 point advantage over Andrew Felker. Justin Peck sits in the third position, while Tanner Thorson has the fourth spot. Spencer Bayston rounds out the top five.
