Kerry Madsen has always been fond of the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH. Friday and Saturday night, Madsen and company beat the World of Outlaws on at the historic ½ mile for his first two wins with the series in 2016.
“We had an awesome racecar all weekend long, and I have to thank my guys for all of their hard work,” Madsen said. “We have been pulling our hair out trying things all year and it’s great to get two wins for everyone involved with this team.”
Timing the Keneric Health Care/Keneric Racing/American Racing Wheels No. 29 machine in fourth fastest overall on Friday night after split qualifying, Madsen would finish second in his heat race and earn a spot in the nightly dash.
Lining up on the front row of the dash, ‘The Mad Man’ would jump out to the lead and set sail, as the win would put him on the front row of the 30-lap feature event alongside Donny Schatz.
A very slick Eldora Speedway surface saw Madsen taking a liking to the top of the speedway as the race came to life. Setting a torrid pace, Madsen would build up his lead over Schatz and Chad Kemmenah as he relentlessly worked the cushion.
Showing how good his car was, Madsen was able move all over the speedway once he got into lapped traffic and keep his challengers at bay. Though his sizeable lead would vanish in the race’s closing laps, Madsen would not be denied on this night as he was able to clear traffic and open his lead up en route to his first World of Outlaws win of the year.
Coming back on Saturday night, Madsen continued to flex his muscles as he timed his machine in second fastest in his qualifying flight before racing his way to a heat race win.
Lining up fourth in the dash, Madsen continued to put on a show as he finished in the second spot, which would again line him up on the front row for the 30-lapper.
Battling with Daryn Pittman on the opening lap for the top spot, Madsen would take control of the race by the second lap and begin stretching his lead out.
On another picture perfect racing surface, the St. Marys, NSW driver would do another great job with his right-rear just inches from the wall lap after lap. Things would get exciting in the closing laps however, as Madsen would again feel pressure from Chad Kemmenah.
As Kemmenah showed Madsen his nose on a couple of occasions with under 10-laps remaining, Madsen would stay composed as he fended off the challenge and capped off his weekend sweep.
“The guys really stepped up this weekend and I am glad we got to showcase some really good speed,” Madsen said. “Hopefully Bob and Pete Gavranich enjoyed this one back home. We thank them for everything they do for us, as well as everyone else that continues to support this team.
