Spending his weekend with the National Sprint Car League in Iowa, Kerry Madsen turned in a dominating performance at the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night which gave him his first ever win with the second year series.

“Saturday night was an awesome night for our team,” Madsen said. “We had an awesome car, and it is a testament to how hard our team has been working. We were able to push hard with the cars we had behind us, and we picked up a really cool win.”

Finding himself on the pole of the feature event based on nightly NSL points, Madsen would shoot out to the early lead despite a couple of early cautions plaguing the race.

Once the race got into a flow, Madsen set a torrid pace on a surface that stayed extremely hooked up and fast with rain showering Knoxville, IA early in the week.

Using the low side of the speedway, Madsen was able to carve his way through traffic with ease as he would simply dominate the 25-lap feature event by winning with a margin of over two seconds, marking his 18th career triumph at the historic speedway.

Following the NSL to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA on Sunday night, where he would open the night up by timing the Keneric Health Care/Keneric Racing/American Racing Custom Wheels No. 29 machine in seventh fastest in time trials.

Picking up the win in his heat race in convincing, Madsen would move into the Nehring Construction Pole Shootout where a third place effort would line him up in the second row of the 20-lap feature event.

From the second row, Madsen would settle into the fourth spot as he flanked Sammy Swindell for much of the night on a surface that was simply not very conducive to passing.

Running on the rear bumper of Swindell at times during the feature event, Madsen would try all he could to get into the third spot, but he was not able to clear the Hall of Famer.

Taking the checkered flag in the fourth spot, Madsen was pleased with how his team performed over the weekend.

“After winning on Saturday, I thought Sunday went well too,” Madsen said. “We had a power steering issues in qualifying that hampered us but we were awesome in the heat and the main event. I just couldn’t find any ground to make any moves so we finished with a Top-Five. Pete and Bob Gavranich do a ton for us, so it is always special when we can grab a win for them.”
