June 8, 2016 – The partnership between Tommie Estes, Jr., and the National Sprint League’s 360-ci series has come to a conclusion.
Announced late last year and launched at the outset of the 2016 season, Tod Quiring’s NSL 360 series no longer has a director as Estes has stepped away following differing views for the future of the series.
“They opted for a different direction with their goals and ideals for the series than I had in mind,” Estes commented. “Rather than continue on, I feel it’s best to step away from that situation.”
The decision wasn’t an easy one for the long-time racer and then competition director that is currently the promoter at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, KS.
“I want to thank all the car owners and drivers that supported the series and I wish them the best of luck going forward,” Estes commented.
Estes set the foundation for the NSL 360 Sprint Car series by securing a select number of lucrative National events along with getting several Regions in place. Derek Hagar won the initial NSL National event at Wichita’s 81 Speedway with Sammy Swindell topping the next one at Moberly, Missouri.
Estes will continue to focus on his promotional duties at Dodge City Raceway Park with the next three weekends leading up to the “Steve King Memorial” that is headlined by a $10,000-to-win NCRA Sprint Car event on July 1-2. The URSS vs. Precise Racing Products DCRP 305-ci Sprint Cars and 1200-cc Colorado Lightning Sprints will be in action as well.
