Tulsa OK (July 5, 2016) – This Saturday night will see the return of the zany, wild, wreck-less and thrilling sprint cars of the Ameri-Flex Hose & Accessories backed Oil Capital Racing Series at the Salina Highbanks Speedway. The Ameri-Flex / OCRS speed demons last hit the soil of the Salina Highbanks on May 14th where Norman Oklahoma’s Sheldon Barksdale scored his third win of the year, which is currently a season high. Barksdale would like nothing more than to double up on the Highbanks this weekend.

Saturday night will be the second of three trips to the Highbanks as the series will return for a third and final time in 2016 on August 20th. In addition to Barksdale, several other quality drivers are expected at the Highbanks to compete all out for top honors. Drivers such as: Current Ameri-Flex / OCRS point leader Zach Chappell, defending champion Robert Sellers, Whit ‘Gasman’ Gastineau, a 2-time winner on tour, Alex Sewell, another 2-time winner, Matt Sherrell, Shayla “Princess’ Waddell, Shane Sellers and the most recent feature winner of 2016, Johnny ‘Hotrod’ Kent.

Other drivers who have answered the early roll call bell include: Perry Pickard, Terry Easum, Morgan Fletcher, Alex DeCamp, Tim Kent and local favorite, Glen Passmore. Several more gunslingers are expected to answer the bell for the $1500 to win event.

With temperatures creeping upward, fans may opt for a little VIP treatment at the Salina Highbanks. The Finishline Restaurant is stationed high above the massive track and offers great food, seating and air conditioning. Private suites may be available as well. Contact the Speedway for availability and pricing.

Come race time, it will be three weeks since the Ameri-Flex / OCRS warriors went into battle mode, look for them to come out swinging this Saturday!

Nutz n’ Boltz
Different Winners Abound:
No Ameri-Flex / OCRS driver has repeated since the last stop on the Highbanks. After Barksdale’s win in May, the following victors have been: Zach Chappell (Longdale Ok.), Robert Sellers (Lawton Ok.), Gastineau (Monett Mo.) & J. Kent (Caney Ks.) Will the non-repeat since May 14th continue or will one of these listed drivers ring the bell?

Super Size Menu:

Money is ready to flow heavily in Ameri-Flex / OCRS action as four of the next six events and 8 of the final 12 races pays extra money to the competing teams. The largest nugget in the bag will be the $5,000 to win Ameri-Flex Challenge on September 5th. Time to get those 1099 forms taken care of for the pencil pushers of the IRS.

Dont Slip Up:

There is very little room for mistakes in the run for the 2016 Harold Leep Championship Trophy. Zach Chappell leads defending champ Robert Sellers by a scant 42 points. With 12 races to go, might as well be a dead heat right now. Whit Gastineau, who led the first few weeks of the season till lady luck turned into a pumpkin for a couple of weeks, is 91 points back of the lead and could use an ill-fated lady of luck to date Chappell and Sellers once or twice to help get back in the thick of things.

Donut Stop:

Alex DeCamp was setting the pace on June 18th at the Caney Valley Speedway when his sprinter got the munchies and decided to get a donut. It was a grab & go as DeCamp managed to only lose a couple of spots and got some back however, he couldnt catch the winner. Decamp has at least one win in each of the past three years. Odds are he sees his name in lights before the season is over.

And Then This Happened:

Tim Kent wouldn’t mind a do-over in the last two events. At Monett Speedway, Kent was involved in a flip in the feature that banged his leg around pretty good. Being the typical racer, Kent gutted out the leg issue and went to Caney Valley Speedway the next night. He should of went to the movies. Kent turned the car over attempting to get in position for his heat race. That did damage to cousin Johnny’s borrowed wing, but he still ran second in the heat. In the feature, Kent had issues and was the first car out of the race. Its OK Tim, you would have spent as much on Coke and popcorn at the movies.
