Abbottstown, PA — (July 9, 2016) — Greg Hodnett added to his Central PA point series lead with his fourth Lincoln of the year and Alan Krimes scored his first checkered flag of the year and 17th career Lincoln win in the high-paying Pigeon Hills sprint car double features Saturday night.

Hodnett picked up where he left off back on April 30th in claiming the $6,900 top prize in the 33-lap Weldon Sterner Memorial for 410 sprinters. The northeast’s leading feature winner started fourth after drawing the four-pill for the inversion at the front of the field.
Polesitter Danny Dietrich led the first 16 laps from the pole before his motor went sour. Hodnett slid under the Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Hickory Run Orchards/Weikert’s Livestock #48 exiting turn four of lap 17, and drove away to a 1.34-second win.
“We knew that with Danny starting up front, he was going to be really tough. He’s been tough here all year. We were just fortunate enough to squeak on by,” said Hodnett after scoring his 17th overall win of 2016, “We can’t complain at all about this year. We come out and do the best we can every night, and fortunately for us, the crew keeps plugging away and giving me really good race cars. Again, I’m not the most comfortable here at Lincoln, but they give me really good race cars and even I can win I guess.”
Dietrich crossed second, followed by Alan Krimes, Freddie Rahmer, and Lucas Wolfe. Sixth through tenth were 11th-starting Brian Montieth, Ryan Smith, Brandon Rahmer, Jim Siegel, and Robbie Kendall.
Heats for the originally scheduled April 30th Sterner Memorial were won by Hodnett, Siegel, and Kendall. Fast time in time trials over the 29-car field on April 30th was Hodnett in the lelands.com/Trone Outdoor Advertising #27, who set a new one-lap track record time of 12.577-seconds (107.339 MPH). That same April 30th night, the fastest three cars had eclipsed the old track record of 12.719 seconds held by Lucas Wolfe from 2015.
REGULARLY SCHEDULED SHOW
Alan Krimes took home the $4,000 winner’s share after winning the regularly-scheduled show, which was night number-one of the Lincoln/Trail-Way/Susquehanna 410 Sprint Car Shootout.
Ryan led the first 23 laps from his pole position, before the Wayne Corini CPA/Abe Service Company #87 slid under Smith for the race-winning pass in heavy lapped traffic exiting turns three and four of the 24th lap.
“I saw Hodnett was making up ground on the bottom, and I figured it was going to lay rubber sometime during the feature,” said the 2014 Lincoln champ and current points leader in victory lane, “It was just a matter of moving down at the right time and finding it. Adam was down there, too, and we were running the 94 down. Those two guys got to racing and that’s what I needed. They slid each other and I could really gain on them when they were doing that. I finally got him after the caution came out.”
“Ryan’s a good racer and he moved down and got away from me a little bit,” said Krimes, “But when we got lapped cars, he tried to go around one of them and I was close enough with a real small strip of rubber there. He missed it and started humming, and that was opening I needed to sneak back by him.”
Krimes pulled away from Smith to take the checkered flag 1.44 seconds ahead of the Warko #94. Third through fifth were Hodnett, Adam Wilt, and Danny Dietrich.
Rounding out the top ten were Cory Haas, Tim Wagaman, Freddie Rahmer, Jim Siegel, and Scott Fisher.
Heats for the 32 410 Sprints on hand for the regularly scheduled show were won by Haas, Smith, Krimes, and Gerard McIntyre, Jr. winning the consolation.
Fast time in time trials for the regularly scheduled show was set again by Hodnett with a one-lap time of 13.433-seconds (100.499 MPH).
358 SPRINTS
For the fourth time this year, Lincoln saw a first-time 358 sprint car career winner, as rookie Trey Hivner of Hanover grabbed the lead from polesitter and race-long leader Brian Allman on lap 15 and score the 1.69-second win.
Third through fifth behind Hivner and Allman were Tyler Esh, Dalton Dietrich, and 11th-starting Matt Campbell.
Heats for the 34 358 Sprints on hand were won by CJ Tracy, Esh, Chris Arnold, and Adrian Shaffer, with Doug Hammaker winning the consolation.
ALL AMERICAN OUTLAWS
Fred Cullum took advantage of an 18th-lap caution to close onto the back bumper of race-long leader Bryan Green and make the race-winning pass on the restart following the event’s only caution flag.
Green settled for second, with Justin Cullum, Jim Minter, and Tim Fake completing the top five.
Heats for the 13 All American Outlaws were won by Green and Fred Cullum.
Next Saturday night, July 16th, Lincoln Speedway will host the annual JOHN GLEIM JR. EXCAVATING NIGHT featuring the 410 Sprints, Super Sportsman, and Central PA Legends. Gates will open at 5:30 PM, with racing getting underway at 7:30 PM.
