– BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2016) – Big Game Motorsports driver Danny Lasoski is back on top of the National Sprint League championship standings.
Lasoski used a runner-up result and two top 10s during an NSL tripleheader last weekend to regain the top spot in the standings by 15 points with eight points-paying races remaining.
Last weekend began on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., where the Muddy sponsored team set quick time during qualifying.
“You throw Guy Forbrook with Brian Morrison horsepower and it gives you relief for qualifying,” he said.
Lasoski then advanced from sixth to second place in a heat race before the feature inversion lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.
“I gave Guy a little bit of false feedback because the week before I told him I was very loose the first half of the race until I got the wing back,” he said. “We brought the same car back. We made it so tight I couldn’t drive it. I take the blame.”
Lasoski held on for a 12th-place result.
The Muddy backed team ventured to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday. Once again Lasoski set quick time during qualifying – this time for the fourth straight NSL event – before he ended sixth in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event.
“They dropped the green and we were third,” he said. “At Knoxville the way the track has been lately the smart thing to do is not kill your tires early. I started running some good laps and staying in contention. (Jamie Veal) broke and that put us in second. About halfway through I started charging. I got to (Ian Madsen), but not close enough to make anything happen.”
The runner-up result clinched Lasoski’s 11th track championship at Knoxville Raceway.
Last weekend concluded on Sunday at Hancock County Speedway, where Lasoski timed in fifth quickest and placed fourth in a heat race. He then advanced from ninth to seventh place in the main event on the tricky track.
“It had character,” he said. “It was a track position deal and we didn’t have track position.”
The Muddy sponsored team will return to action this Sunday at Knoxville Raceway for the Capitani Classic before the next National Sprint League event on Monday, Aug. 8, at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
