Kokomo,In (8-26-2016)- CJ Leary won his first USAC Amsoil Sprint Car National Championship feature as he took home top honors in night two of “Sprint Car Smackdown V” at Kokomo Speedway Friday night. Leary started outside front row and led all 30 laps but was pressured early by Thomas Meseraull and Tyler Courtney on a lightning fast race track.
Throughout the feature Courtney and Meseraull waged a fierce battle for 2nd as Leary took advantage of that and stretched his lead in in the later stages of the 30 lapper. Shane Cottle who started 12th made a late race pass of Chad Bosepflug to finish 4th with Bosepflug 5th at the stripe. Two cautions slowed the action.

The Kokomo crew did a fine job keeping the track in racing condition after early morning thunder showers and rain off and on during the day and into the evening.
