YAKIMA, Wash. (September 26, 2016) — The crowd at Central Washington State Fair Raceway was treated to a fantastic Summer Thunder Sprintcar Series main event with Jason Solwold emerging victorious at the end of 30 exciting laps. Joining him in victory lane was Bricen James with the Washington Modified Tour.
Against the backdrop of the opening day of the Central Washington State Fair, the Summer Thunder Sprintcar Series main event saw JJ Hickle shoot out to the initial lead with Jason Solwold working his way forward from fourth into contention for the lead. Solwold followed Hickle for two laps before making his move to take the lead on lap 12. Hickle would not yield easily though, using the inside of turn one and two to pull back even with Jason and re took the lead on lap 12. Solwold reasserted himself, coming back hard after JJ as the two diced in and amongst slower traffic. Jason retook the lead on lap 17, and using a deft move to split two slower cars, put some needed distance between himself and JJ. A caution on lap 24 bunched the field one final time, but Solwold rose to the challenge and led the rest of the way to take the win. Hickle was second and Colton Heath took third.
