With the season wrapped up in the pacific northwest, Jason Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team made the trip to Stockton, CA where Solwold would pick up a third place finish with the King of the West Series.
“I was really happy with how we ran all night,” Solwold said. “It was our first time to the place and I really liked it.”
With 30 410’s checked into the pit area for the final KWS race of the season, the Burlington, WA driver showed speed early by way of his fourth quick effort in time trials.
With the track extremely slick early on in the night, passing was tough each time cars hit the recently reconfigured speedway. Finishing fourth in heat race action, Solwold would transfer to both the Dash, and the 30-lap feature event.
Pocketing a fourth place finish during the six-lap Dash, Solwold would find his machine in the second row for the 30-lap feature event. With track crews doing some minor work to the surface before the race went green, Solwold would work his way into third as the race came to life.
Chasing down Rico Abreu, Solwold would soon find his way around his fierce competitor as he took over the second spot and chased after Tim Kaeding during the rapid fire event.
A 27-lap green flag run would see Solwold sit in the second spot when the caution flew, but he didn’t have much tire left with the way the surface was. The ensuing restart would see Abreu get back by Solwold, though he was able to maintain the third spot with Cory Eliason and Bud Kaeding behind him.
With the race’s final restart coming on the 29th lap, Solwold was able to hold down the third spot when the checkered flag flew on the feature event.
“The car was fast all night long, I just used up my tires chasing after TK,” Solwold added. “It was a good time, and it was really cool to see that many cars and that many fans in once place.”
Solwold and the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team would like to thank Scottie’s Plumbing, NW Team Excavating, KarMart Motorsports, Doyle Guffie’s Rayle Auto Sales, Pops Entertainment, Vic’s 66, Speedmart, After Hours Painting, Triple X Race Co., Al Parker Race Engines, Wings Unlimited, Slade Shocks, Rob Graham Trucking, Wings Unlimited, Meyer Sings, Vahlco Wheels, Fuel Safe, and Pro Signs for their continued support.
