Winged Sprint Car Racing’s Grand Slam: Is it possible?

Last week at Eldora as Mark Kinser passed cars high and low after Karl Kinser tweaked his car during a red flag, some of the sports talk consuming the rest of the country suddenly hit me, can Mark Kinser win what I consider the ‘Grand Slam’ of sprint car racing? After Mark’s Lernerville victory this question can be asked more frequently. […]

TJ’s Notes & Quotes From Friday Night at Eldora

The heat races were incredible all night at the first night of the Eldora doubleheader. In particular the third sprint car heat race that featured a spirited dual with J.J. Yeley, Bill Rose, Tony Jones, and Tyler Walker. This quartet of drivers raced three, and for a couple of laps four wide all around the Eldora ½-mile oval. […]

Anderson Double Dip Was Worth the Trip

What a difference a week makes. Last weekend saw myself and a guest freeze at Attica through a tremendous feature, warm up slightly only to have it rain before the heat races at Eldora, and then see snow on the way home when we should have been seeing a double dip with USAC Worldcom National midgets and Stoops/Freightliner Sprint Cars. The Anderson event was rescheduled for one week later, and at the last moment Mudclodbob, Patrick Poor, and myself hopped in the car and headed down to the Glen Niebel Classic. […]

Weekend Leftovers and Hangovers

I just got back from the “Parade of Champions” in Lansing for the Michigan State Spartans National Championship Basketball game. It seems as if MSU has made Florida kind of its whipping boy after the Citrus Bowl and now winning the National Championship over the Gators. I’m almost sure MSU could take them in Ice Hockey as well! Great job State, and thankfully no discount store couches burned in the celebration this time around! […]
