Greenville Speedway Gumbo Nationals Has It All

Greenville, MS – Greenville Speedway’s Gumbo Nationals 2009 www.gumbonationals.com on Friday, November 6th and Saturday, November 7th has got it all for people who like to see fast race cars go in circles on a tacky action-packed one quarter mile Gumbo clay oval. There should be enough door-to-door and wheel-to-wheel adrenaline-pumping action for even the most avid race fan with a total of over 400 laps of racing in five divisions. Drivers from at least ten states are expected to compete for nearly $50,000 in prize money during the two nights.

The weekend’s competition is co-headlined by the wheelie’ popping,’ 700 horsepower, 1300 pound Parts Plus www.partsplus.com sponsored United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour www.uscsracing.com winged sprint outlaw cars and the popular, ground-pounding, three-wheelie’ 800 horsepower Super Late Models. Both of those premier divisions will contest two nights of wide-open racing on the speedway. The Super Late Model two-day format includes time trial qualifying and head-to-head qualifying races on Friday night. The Parts Plus USCS winged sprint car racing format on Friday night features a complete sprint car racing program including the Parts Plus Power Dash followed by qualifying heat races plus B-Main /Last chance races and the Parts Plus USCS sprint car A-Main final.

Both divisions return on Saturday evening with their Gumbo Nationals Championship races. The Super Late Models with competition in their B-Main/Last Chance races and battling for a top prize of over $5000 in the Gumbo Nationals 40-Lap main event finale. The Parts Plus USCS sprint cars will contest another complete racing program on Saturday night including their 30-lap Gumbo Nationals Championship finale.

Those two high-powered divisions are joined on the program by the mighty open wheel modified racers of the Rislone USCS Modified Series with a full program of action identical to the Super Late Models. They will also time trial on Friday night and then run a series of qualifying races. The Rislone USCS Modifieds are shooting for a possible top prize of $2500 when they return on Saturday evening with their Rislone Oil Stabilizer Dash, B-Main/Last Chance Race(s) and the 30-lap finale of their own.

The 2009 Gumbo Nationals Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions will both contest Gumbo Nationals Championship races that expect large fields as well. Pre-entries have been received from three states already in both divisions. Both of those divisions are competing for a possible top prize of $750+ per division. The popular entry level Stingers Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders join the program on Saturday evening.

Fans can pre-view the weekend’s action during a special practice session scheduled for Thursday, November 5th from 7:00 pm until 10:00pm. Two-day ticket discounts will be available at the track on Friday night.
