Stull wins Gumbo Nationals prelim at Greenville Speedway on Friday

Greenville Mississippi – November 6, 2009 – Raymond Stull from Independence, Mississippi won the Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Gumbo Nationals 2009 www.uscsracing.com 20-lap preliminary main event at Greenville Speedway on Friday night. Stull collected the winner’s paycheck for his efforts while besting a talented 24-car field that included drivers from six states. It was the second career Parts Plus USCS victory for Stull and the second time he has won at Greenville Speedway in 2009.

After the heat races the highest driver in passing points, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee placed Stull on the K&N Filters Pole for the 20-lap Gumbo Nationals prelim after drawing a four in the K&N Filters Pole Draw. Stull then took full advantage of his starting position to dominate the race in the Absolute Iron/Absolute Racing #6 by leading every lap of the race around the ź mile black Gumbo clay oval.

Past USCS Champion, Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas started eighth and raced to the finish- line in the runner-up spot. Young gun Andy McElhannon from Hernando, Mississippi showed extreme talent by winning the Butlerbuilt Second Heat, then finishing third in the main event behind Skinner. Nicholson crossed the line in fourth position. Hard-charging Michael Miller from Ocean Springs, Mississippi who started way back in twenty-first position, improved sixteen positions to round out the top five.

Past series Champion, Eddie Gallagher from Piperton, Tennessee headed the next group of drivers in sixth place followed by current Parts Plus USCS Rookie points leader Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee in seventh place. Ronnie Blair from Dayton, Ohio finished in the eighth position. Bryce Vowan from Forrest City, Arkansas finished ninth and Timmy Thrash from Gulfport, Mississippi rounded out the top ten finishers in the 20-lap contest that locked the top four fininshers in the main event into Saturday night’s 30-lap finale.

Marshall Skinner won the 6-lap Parts Pus Power Dash. The Engler Machine and Tool First Heat was won nby Eddie Gallagher. Andy McElhannon charged to the win in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat and Raymond Stull captured the Bar’s Leaks Third Heat. Michael Miller garnered the Lunati Crank It Up Award for passing the most cars in the A-Main (16). Andy McElhannon was the Hoosier Tire Young Gun (drivers under 25 ears) of the race. Justin Carver was the Rookie of the Race. The JE Pistons Top Gun Award went to Michael Miller who finished fifth.
