Sydney, AU — (January 19, 2013) — Jason Sides has made it back to back wins to claim round seven honors in World Series Sprintcars in front of a huge Sydney crowd.

In what was almost a carbon copy from last night, Sides and Jason Johnson squared off on the front row. Johnson led most of the early part of the race and was able to pull a fair margin over the rest of the field. However as mid race approached, Sides came on strong. With sixteen to go Sides worked all over the back of Johnson, as Sides went into one he went straight to the cushion, got the drive off turn two and went straight around Jason Johnson. Sides was untouchable from that moment on and went on for a dominant victory. Jason Johnson held suit coming home in second while Daryn Pittman was a late hard charger and drove all the way up to third.

The race was mainly highlight by the battles between Shane Stewart and Brooke Tatnell, it was incredible as both were fighting for a spot on the podium at the time. For the majority of the first ten laps Stewart was all over the back of Tatnell but just didn’t have enough underneath him to make the move. On lap thirteen the American made a charge around Tatnell, however it was short lived as Tatnell got back underneath Stewart a few laps later. The two continue to fight between each other as Pittman then surprised the both of them and with under ten laps to go made a charge around Tatnell then also around the outside of Stewart in three and four. Stewart held on for forth while Tatnell fell back to seventh.

So the top ten looked like this, Sides, Johnson and Pittman was your top three, then Stewart, Brazier was fifth after starting fifteenth, Hirst, Tatnell, Roddy Bellbowen eighth ending off a great weekend for himself, then Keading and Farr rounding out the top ten.

Series leader James McFadden experienced a difficult night. After a fire in hot laps he recovered later for a heat win, but after starting well down in the feature he got caught up in contact with David Muir and saw the current Australian and defending WSS champion struggle home for fifteenth. Another notable was current Track Championship leader Ian Madsen who had a roll in early feature racing. The team fought tooth and nail to get him back out but only for the B-Main and to Ian’s disappointment he failed to transfer to the Feature.

Legend Cars were claimed by Brett Mitchell with Chris Aird and Adam Fisher rounding out the podium.

The lightning Sprints were unable to conduct their feature due to time restraints.

Sydney Speedway would like to thank all track staff, official and volunteers for helping out in trying conditions over the two nights and of course the fans for turning out. Next weekend we see another two night show here at Sydney Speedway with the Late Model Grand National and Wingless Sprint Classic.
