Dewease Weathers Storm; 10th At Lincoln

Despite snow flurries, and frigid temperatures, Lance Dewease and his Heffner Racing team were in action at the Lincoln Speedway on Saturday afternoon and scored their third top-10 of the season as they finished in the 10th spot.

“It was a bizarre day with the weather, but other then that, we had a great car, but the track was way more hooked up than normal, and it made passing pretty tough,” Dewease said.

Pulling a high pill, Dewease lined his Lelands.com/Conduit Connecions/Pasquirellos Auto Shop No. 27 up in the sixth spot of the second heat.

In what would go on to be a new 10-lap track record, Dewease simply got in line and finished in the fifth spot, transferring directly to the feature event.

Lining up in the 14th spot, Dewease knew his work would be cut out for him and his Penske/Wings Unlimited/Brown and Miller machine.

“Typically during the day shows, the track is slick and very racy, but with the weather, it was hooked up and fast, and I knew it was going to be a struggle to move forward,” he added.

When the lights went green, Dewease grabbed a few spots initially as he raced with Alan Krimes and JJ Grasso.

Taking advantage of a restart following Greg Hodnett’s flip, Dewease was able to work into the tenth spot, as him and Krimes continued to race.

Battling for ninth, Rick Lafferty snuck into the picture, and began pressuring Dewease for the 10th spot.

As Krimes slowly got away, Dewease held strong in the 10th spot, and crossed the stripe in that position.

“We could have been a little better, but we will take the 10th place finish and move forward,” he said. “It’s still early, and we are learning some things about this car after our crash in Florida.”
