Ohsweken, Ontario – September 3, 2014 – Ohsweken Speedway’s 18th season of regular weekly racing concludes this Friday, September 5, when Renway Energy presents Season Championship Night, featuring extra-distance features for the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars, Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers.

CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING 360 SPRINT CARS
Glenn Styres is looking for his first track championship since weekly Sprint Car racing began at Ohsweken in 2008, but has to keep Mitch Brown behind him in the 360 Sprint Car standings for 1 more week. Styres has a 27 point lead over August 29 feature winner Brown, and can clinch the championship by finishing 14th or better on Friday. Jim Huppunen, Shane Ross, Todd Hoddick, Keith Dempster, Dave Dykstra, Jamie Turner, Jeremy Hughes, and Rookie of the Year leader Cory Turner make up the remainder of the current top 10.

STRICKLAND’S GMC CRATE SPRINT CARS
Ryan Hunsinger needs only to start the Crate Sprint Car feature on Friday to clinch the championship for the division’s inaugural season. Hunsinger is ahead of Aaron Turkey by 55 points, while August 29 feature winner Jake Brown is 3rd, followed by Josh Shantz, Mike Thorne, Brad Herron, Mark Czuba, Tyler Hendricks, Kyle Durnin, and Paul Lang.

AFFORDABLE TOWING & RECOVERY THUNDER STOCKS
The Thunder Stock championship is still up for grabs, as Dave Silverthorn, Jr. leads defending champion and August 29 feature winner Lee Winger by just 4 points heading into Friday’s event. Wyatt Van Wart is 28 points behind Silverthorn and 3rd in the standings, while Chris Dickie still has a chance at the title as he sits in 4th, 45 points behind Silverthorn. Dave Bailey, Ryan Dinning, Rookie of the Year leader Chase Hess, Bryce Richardson, Karl Sault, and Trevor DeBoer make up the remainder of the top 10.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS
Tyler Lafantaisie leads the Mini Stock division standings by 39 points over Rookie of the Year leader and August 29 feature winner Mark Bazuin, and needs to finish 19th or better on Friday to clinch to championship. Team 81 (Alex Schuts and Lee Hils) is 3rd in the standings, followed by Team 66 (Brandon and Jon Janssens), Robin Elliott, Jason Lungaro, Kathi Dickie, Lucas Lubin, Team 55 (Rob and Kevin Slater), and Team 79 (Steve and Dan Miller).

GALE’S AUTO AFTERMARKET BOMBERS
Dusty DeBoer’s consistency has him poised to repeat as Bomber division champ, as he needs only to start to the feature on Friday to clinch the title. Joe DeBoer is 2nd in the standings, followed by Gillian Hils, Ashton Reekie, Clinton Nicholls, Gerald Burnham, Paul Longboat, Max Chechalk, Tim Nuell, and Team 1210 (Thomas Booker and Derek Dwyer).

CANADIAN SPRINT CAR NATIONALS NEXT WEEK!!
The 10th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals weekend at Ohsweken Speedway is coming up next week.
