​Macon Speedway Freedom Fest Doubleheader This Weekend

Millstadt, IL — (June 30, 2015) — The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series are set to make their fourth and fifth appearance at the “Mighty” Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois on July 3rd and July 4th for the Macon Speedway Freedom Fest. The last POWRi appearance at Macon Speedway was on June 6th for the third night of Illinois SPEED Week, with Christopher Bell and Matt Howard taking division wins.  The weekend will be filled with racing, fireworks, and music  entertainment.

Friday, July 3rd will feature POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets, POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micros, Street Stocks, and non-wing micros, with fireworks on display after the feature events. Saturday, July 4th will include Brian Shartzer and his Garth Brooks Tribute band before the races at 4:00, with POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets, POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micros, UMP Modifieds, and non-wing micros, taking the center state in the evening.

Riverside, California driver Darren Hagen currently leads the Midget standings by 410 points over Carl Junction, Missouri competitor Andrew Felker.  Austin Brown, Kyle Schuett, and Christopher Bell complete the top five in the national standings.  Concordia, Missouri driver Nathan Benson is leading the Micro standings, entering Freedom Fest.  Ayrton Gennetten, Joe B Miller, Aaron Andruskevitch, and Matt Howard are top five competitors.  Macon Speedway Street Stock point leader Terry Reed and Billingsley Towing Modified competitor, Rodney Standerfer, will look to continue their early season success at this weekend’s events.

Each night will be run as a completely separate show, with preliminary events and features both nights.  Friday night will be regular payout for both midgets and micros, with Saturday’s midget feature paying $3000 to WIN.  Pit gates each day will open at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, hotlaps at 6:00, and racing action will take the green at 7:00.  Admission prices are $15 for adults, while children 11 and under are free.
