Tulsa Okla. (August 17, 2015) – It is hard to fathom that summer is drawing near to an end already. Some school districts are back in session and a glance of the schedule shows there are just seven sprint car events left on the Ameri-Flex Hose & Accessories / Oil Capital Racing Series 2015 tour. Time goes by so fast as it seems the start of the racing season was just a mere few weeks ago.

After a well deserved 3-week break, the Ameri-Flex / OCRS series will be at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in the annual “Salute To Our Veterans” night. The HIghbanks is opening their gates to any and all U.S. Veterans and all active Military personnel free of charge to take in this special program that will also host the United States Modified Touring Series. The 360 modifieds and Pure Stocks will perform on the lightning quick 3/8-mile highbanks as well.

Tuttle Oklahoma’s Shane Sellers won his second Ameri-Flex / OCRS series event of the year at the Highbanks when the series made a Green Country stop back on July 18th. Sellers currently sits second in the point standings with his father Robert leading the pack for the title and the Harold Leep Championship trophy that comes with such an accomplishment. Brett Wilson, Casey Wills and Cameron Hagin hold spots three, four and five in the standings. There will be an extra $500 payable to the winner of the “Salute To Our Veterans” night as supplied by Tulsa based Ameri-Flex Hose & Accessories.

Do come and enjoy a night of racing this Saturday with the very people that make our country free and great, the Veterans of the United States of America!
Racing action is set to get underway at 7pm.

Special Announcement:
There will be a special announcement concerning the 2016 racing season of the Ameri-Flex / OCRS sprint car series at Salina moments before racing action begins. The announcement will take place in the grandstands as we wish include the fans of our series in this announcement.
Not plane, nor bird, nor even frog, It’s just little old me …..Underdog:
The last race for the Ameri-Flex / OCRS series was at Lawton Speedway on August 1st. Had there been a betting window open, it would be fair to say Cody Wampler would have gone off at some high odds. After all, he hadn’t seen victory lane in 12 years (largely due to not racing for several years). Be that as it may, Wampler stomped the field leading wire-wire in the 30-lapper becoming the eighth different winner of 2015. With 16 events in the books, on average, that makes for a brand new winner every other trip out. Not shabby.

Ninth New Winner This Week?
A few drivers of note to keep an eye on that could be the ninth new winner of 2015 this weekend are………

Zach Chappell – Chappell’s best finish so far was a second at the Highbanks in July. At Lawton this month, Chappell had another runner-up finish till Robert Sellers stole it in turn four of the last lap. The rust is off and a win is coming.

Johnny Kent – ‘Hotrod’ has scored a couple of wins of late at the Creek County Speedway including last Saturday night. While Hotrod is still looking for his first career Ameri-Flex / OCRS series checkered, a win would surprise nobody.
Alex DeCamp- The Locust Grove pilot has been on a part-time basis this year as he has entered just 6 events thus far with 3 top fives. DeCamp lead the series in victory lane visits in 2014 with five.

Harold Leep Classic – Give Yourselves a Hand:
The Harold Leep Classic is the next event after the Highbanks (August 28th) at the Outlaw Motor Speedway. The Ameri-Flex / OCRS series asked for support and you responded and responded well.

The word went out to sponsor main event laps at $100 per lap for 25 laps. Those were gone in less than a week and a half. We then announced a Harold Leep Dash race that would take place for 10 qualifying drivers. Each dash driver could be sponsored for $100 each. Those were gone in just 3 days. This event is all about honoring one of the greatest legends in our region to strap in a racecar. Give yourselves a hand for your generosity and support of this special event.
