From TJ Buffenbarger:
Bristol, TN — Five drivers from the Auto Value Super Sprints blistered the high banked half mile at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee Tuesday morning. Before the rains came Jason Blonde came away as the fastest driver to ever turn a lap at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
Blonde turned a lap of 13.83 seconds, topping the records set by Sammy Swindell for sprint cars with dirt on the high banks of 13.986 seconds and Ryan Newman抯 recent Winston Cup track record of 14.908 seconds. Overall four of the five teams broke into the 13-second bracket.
Drivers Tim Cox, Tommy Fedewa, Jason Blonde, Jeff Bloom and Troy Underwood went south to test the possibility of a sprint car race at what has been voted as NASCAR’s most popular track. While the drivers this morning gave a possible thumbs up track officials have not decided if they will bring in an AVSS show. It would be likely the group would appear during the fall Nextel Cup weekend as the opening show of the weekend.
