Kilgore, TX — For many years sprint car fans in Texas have heard about Fred Rahmer, read about him, and even saw him on television occasionally when he competed against the World of Outlaws. Now they will finally get a chance to see the Hall of Famer for themselves up close and personal, as he will compete in the inaugural WoO Fest at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore on Saturday, October 24 with the World of Outlaws.
Rahmer, who was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame earlier this year, will join 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser and Jac Haudenschild as fellow Hall of Famers in the field on Saturday night at the blazing fast half-mile.
“I hear it’s a nice place and I am looking forward to it,” said Rahmer, while driving to the track on Friday night. “We’ll do the best we can and maybe get a little help from a few of the guys that have been there before. Hopefully it will be a good night for us.”
Rahmer, who has five career A-Feature wins with the World of Outlaws, has competed with the series 10 times this season at five different tracks, including making his debut at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri during the inaugural Ironman 55 weekend. He finished fourth in his most recent start with the series at the famed Williams Grove Speedway during the National Open charging all the way from the 18th starting spot.
“I’m looking forward to something different, so we’ll see how it goes,” noted the Pennsylvania native of racing in Texas for the first time. “It looks like everything is going to be rained out back home, so we decided to head on down the road.”
Rahmer has won five times this season, with three of those victories coming at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania, where he is a 10-time track champion, while the other two triumphs came at Williams Grove, where he is an eight-time titlist. He crossed the 500 career win plateau earlier this season, with over 400 of those victories coming in a sprint car.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” he stated when asked about racing at Lone Star Speedway for the first time. “As long as we make it through the long ride down there, we’ll be all right. It should be a neat night over there.”
On Saturday, October 24 at Lone Star Speedway, general admission tickets for adults will be $25, with general admission tickets for Seniors/Military $20, with children ages 6-12 $15 and kids ages five-under admitted free of charge in the general admission seats.
