LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Feb. 28, 2010) – Jason Meyers started 18th, held off a last-lap move by Steve Kinser, and won the Las Vegas Super Sprint Classic World of Outlaws race at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was the furthest back a winner had started in an Outlaws feature event.
Goodyear is the sole rear tire supplier for the Outlaws sprint car series. The front wheel positions are open to competition among tire suppliers, though most teams prefer Goodyear’s front runners.
Meyers led the event with one lap around the half-mile oval remaining in the 30-lap race but Kinser slipped around him to take the lead as they raced down the back straight. Meyers ducked low in turns three and four, then won the drag race back to the finish line. The margin of victory was just .237 of a second.
Donny Schatz finished third, followed by Jason Sides and Tim Kaeding.
Kinser, the 20-time WoO champion, found himself in familiar territory after the race. He leads the standings.
