Sirromet, the prestigious and iconic Qld Life-Style-Wine Company headquartered at Mt Cotton just south of Brisbane, is the latest in an impressive list of supporters to back the Qld Sprintcar Tri-City Shootout to be held over three nights across the Easter long weekend.
Sirromet join companies such as Ausdeck Patios and Roofing, Temporary Fence Hire, East Coast Logistics, Quick Time Chassis, R&R Racewear, Kaedings Performance and Qld Speedway Spares to name just a few as supporters of the Sprintcar racing festival that kicks off at Maryborough Speedway on Good Friday and continues over the next two nights at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway and Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba.
The Shootout has been attracting a lot of interest throughout the Speedway community with nominations now topping the forty drivers mark with entries from around Queensland and also New South Wales. Reigning Qld Sprintcar Champion James McFadden has confirmed his nomination, with the Shootout the young gun’s final Qld hit-out before he puts his State Title on the line in Brisbane at the end of April.
McFadden has certainly established himself as not only one of the rising stars of the sport this season but also as a genuine contender for the win at every event he now contests. His speed and consistency during the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship and at other major races during the past Summer has caught the eye of many seasoned campaigners and observers of Sprintcar racing in Australia, and his on-track rivals will need to bring their “A-Game” to the track throughout the three nights of the Shootout next weekend to keep him off the podium.
James will be up against a formidable list of drivers though, including five of Qld’s best in Andrew Scheuerle, Bryan Mann, Cameron Gessner, Peter Lack and Todd Wanless. NSW will be well represented by Adrian Maher, Ian Loudoun, Darryl Campbell and Gary Hann while North Qld drivers Tony Wynne, Troy Coomber and Gary Finglas will make the trek south for the three nights of the Shootout.
In all, forty one drivers have filed entries for the Qld Sprintcar Shootout and will be chasing their fair share of the $70,000 in prize money, pool money and contingency awards on offer. Qld Sprintcar fans – circle the dates on your calendar, put the trip to the beach on hold, grab yourselves some hot cross buns and a nice drop of Sirromet wine and make your way to the track for three nights of hot racing action in the Sunshine State.
