SEDALIA, Mo. – April 2, 2010 – NASCAR star Kasey Kahne will battle the World of Outlaws Sprint Car superstars on June 16 at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Kasey’s King of Sedalia Presented By Budweiser — the biggest night of racing in the Sedalia half-mile’s history.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday in a special online-only opening, fans can reserve their seats for the massive event showcasing the largest pyrotechnics display to ever blast off at a dirt track event by logging onto http://www.worldofoutlaws.com/tickets. The World of Outlaws first raced at Sedalia in 1978, but nobody has ever seen an event like Kasey’s King of Sedalia – the third leg of the four-race Kahne-promoted Showdown for the Bud Crown. The can’t-miss event features 900 horsepower World of Outlaws Sprint Cars of drivers like legendary Steve Kinser, four-time champion Donny Schatz and current points leader Jason Meyers all racing under huge blasts of flames and fireworks throughout the night as they battle each other and Kasey Kahne.
In the Showdown opener last month at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., Kahne shattered the track record and was charging for the lead when contact with a teammate knocked him out of contention. What will he do at Sedalia? Be there to find out. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday online at http://www.worldofoutlaws.com/tickets or by calling 704-795-7223 on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Eastern. There even is special pricing for children 12-and-under in reserved seats.

Missouri State Fair Speedway is a semi-banked half-mile oval where Craig Dollansky owns the track record of 15.676 seconds, established on March 23, 2001. One of Kasey Kahne Racing’s drivers, Paul McMahan, is a former winner at Sedalia, taking the checkered flag in the March 23, 2001, event. Other former winners who will be competing on June 16 include Schatz (2008 and July ’03), Steve Kinser (2007, ’04, April ’03, ’00 and 1999), Meyers (2005) and Danny Lasoski (2002).
The final stop on the Showdown for the Bud Crown tour will be July 8 at LaSalle (Ill.) Speedway, where the top three overall finishers from the mini-series will share a $15,000 bonus. Steve Kinser, who finished second and fifth with strong qualifying efforts in the first two rounds at Volunteer Speedway, is leading the Showdown for the Bud Crown points by 7 over Meyers, who won the second night of the Showdown. The top five drivers — Kinser, Meyers, Brad Sweet, McMahan and Lasoski — are separated by only 30 points. Opening night winner Joey Saldana, who drives Kasey Kahne Racing’s #9 Budweiser World of Outlaws Sprint Car, is 13th in the standings after suffering a hand injury in a flip on the second night at Volunteer.
