With rain cancelling the scheduled April 30 UMSS show at Kopellah Speedway located near St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, UMSS series President Ron Bernhagen in conjunction with Kopellah Speedway have agreed to reschedule the show for Friday night June 4. “This night matches up well with our schedule, as it is the night prior to the prestigious Kouba Memorial race at North Central Speedway in Brainerd,” stated Bernhagen.
Coming on board to provide some additional sponsorship money for the June 4 Kopellah UMSS race is GRP Motorsports. The winner of the UMSS feature race that night will receive $1,000. Greg Parent indicated, “this should give area sprint car teams a nice double-header race weekend for a decent payout at each event. I’m glad to be able to help boost the first place payout for the June 4 UMSS show.”
The UMSS kicked off their second season on Friday night April 23 at the Kopellah Speedway with Belle Plaine, Minnesota’s Dave Becker earning the feature victory. The series then suffered back-to-back rain outs of their next two events on April 24 and April 30. UMSS race officials will continue to work with the Cedar Lake Speedway to try and find a workable date to reschedule the April 24 rained out Billy Anderson Memorial race. The next UMSS race event will be held at the Kopellah Speedway on Friday night May 7.
The UMSS is a value-based sprint car organization bringing open wheel racing back to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota by establishing reasonable rules for the participant, an economical purse structure for the race tracks, and an affordable race ticket and fan-friendly program for the race fan.
