June 29, 2010 – For the fifth consecutive year, the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders plan to spend Independence Day weekend at the West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, Iowa. The event held this Saturday, July 3, will be especially great to bring the kids to, as there will be free ice cream, American Flags and gunny sack racing!
The Lil’ Racer Car Club will be serving up FREE ICE CREAM Saturday night! There will be 4-5 flavors available near the Sprint Invaders booth under the grandstands. All children are invited to sign up with the West Liberty Lil’ Racer Car Club that evening as they will be giving away American Flags donated by the Sons of the American Legion in Lone Tree as well as the Sprint Invaders usual prizes. There will also be gunny sack racing, with trophies being handed out!
This will be the fifth appearance in Sprint Invaders history at the ½ mile oval. There has not been a repeat winner yet, as four different winners have graced Victory Lane. Jesse Giannetto (2006), Jerrod Hull (2007), Josh Schneiderman (2008) and Matt Rogerson (2009) have all scored wins at the West Liberty, Iowa track.
Matt Sutton leads this year’s charge into West Liberty on top of the point standings. “Flyin’” Ryan Jamison is just 16 points behind the leader heading into the weekend. A strong second place run last weekend at Jacksonville Speedway has put “Showtime” Kaley Gharst into a tie for third with Jim Moughan Jr. They are just 27 markers out of the lead. Jim’s nephew, Joey Moughan, picked up the popular win in Jacksonville.
After the event at West Liberty a three-race “County Fair Tour” kicks off that will include the Davis County Fair and the Bloomfield Speedway on Thursday, July 8, the Lee County Fair in Donnellson on Friday, July 9, and the Cedar County Fair in Tipton on Thursday, July 15.
Racing gets underway at the West Liberty Raceway Saturday at 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.SimmonsPromotionsInc.com!
