Great racing all night long highlighted a perfectly prepared track…
Terry McCarl (7th car out to time) set quick time at 15.310 seconds. Austin McCarl (19th car out) was second quick, followed by Brent Antill (1st), Dusty Zomer (3rd), Mark Dobmeier (2nd), Josh Schneiderman (5th), Ian Madsen (26th), Matthew Reed (8th), Johnny Herrera (17th) and Lynton Jeffrey (12th). Davey Heskin scratched after a crash in hot laps. He was uninjured.

W. Johnson shot out to an early lead in the 8-lapper and won going away from the field. Jackson slowed at the start and dropped back to eighth. He recovered to sixth, one spot out of a transfer. T. McCarl and Madsen had a good battle for fourth, before T. McCarl took the spot with three to go.

Mitchell Dumesny tipped going into turn one after the green was flown. He was uninjured, and would return for the B. Brown led every lap after maneuvering around Moore and Maeschen on lap one. Dobmeier worked hard to get by Moore for the final transfer.

Zimmerly led the first two laps before Herrera passed him and checked out. Schneiderman worked hard on Max for the final transfer. Weuve exited with two to go.

Jackson led the 12-lapper early. Behind him, Phillips and Moore battled for second. Max Dumesny was in fourth, and Joey Moughan moved by Bunton into the fifth and final transfer before a red flag for a flipped Bartz stopped things with nine laps down. The restart saw Jackson ahead of R. Phillips, Moore, Max Dumesny and Joey Moughan. The latter two would be victims of Bunton and Wolfgang, who took advantage of the restart, and shot by into transfer spots. Cornell dropped out on lap six.

T. McCarl shot out to the early lead in the 20-lapper as A. McCarl stayed close behind. Dobmeier moved up into second and you could have thrown a blanket over the battle for the runner-up spot to fifth, with Zomer, Antill and Rogerson battling as well. Dobmeier stayed within striking distance in lap traffic, but couldn’t get in position to make a move. The car on the move early was Johnson, who quickly moved into the top ten and ran sixth at the checkers. Herrera came on late in the non-stop event, picking off A. McCarl for third with two to go and then getting by Dobmeier on the last lap. Johnson was the hard-charger. The win was T. McCarl’s win was his 48th (4th all-time at Knoxville).

R. Phillips took the early lead in side by side action with Jackson. On lap two, the first caution of the features came out for debris left in turns one and two. Droud Jr. had put a slider on Antill, taking off the bumper of the #81. Both cars restarted in their running positions. Jackson and R. Phillips went side by side the first half of the race. One needed more eyeballs to see all the great action on a perfectly prepared track. R. Phillips led laps 1-3. Jackson led 4, R. Phillips led 5-8, and Jackson took over on lap nine. Johnson was again in the top five from row seven. Madsen moved by R. Phillips into second with four laps to go. Johnson moved into third before a caution came out for Reed, who suffered a flat left rear on the white flag lap. The green, white, checker finish saw Jackson leading Madsen, Johnson, R. Phillips and Droud Jr. Johnson went to the middle of turns one and two and killed his momentum. Droud Jr. and R. Phillips got by. Madsen was all over Jackson and drove by him in turns one and two on the last lap to claim his first career Knoxville win. Herrera was the hard-charger.

Dennis Moore Jr. set quick time in group qualifying at 16.093 seconds. Dustin Selvage was second quick, followed by Johnny Anderson, Chad Humston, Ryan Roberts, Jon Agan, Matt Moro, Bryan Dobesh, Nate Van Haaften and Clint Garner.

Johnson led all 7 laps. Humston put on a good show, going both low and high to pick off Moore Jr., then Moro and finally Shilling on the last lap for third.

Heskin led flag to flag. Disaster struck on lap two. Mather slowed on the backstretch in front of Dobesh, who was collected and got upside down. Both drivers were o.k., but done for the night. Veal was able to hold off Potter for the final transfer.

Moore Jr. led the 10-lap distance. Hess and Van Haaften had a side by side battle for second. Mosher took the fifth and final transfer from Potter using the low side of one and two with two laps to go.

Garner swapped the lead with Hall before taking command. The battle for second ensued between four cars. Hall and Agan battled for the spot early, before Humston and Selvage came on. The spots were swapped often, with drivers using grooves up high, down low and through the middle in one and two. Three and four saw the cushion utilized mostly, with the low side working in as well coming out of turn four. Selvage and Humston raced close in the late stages, with Selvage finishing in the runner-up spot behind Garner and earning hard-charger honors. Garner had two lapped cars to navigate the last two laps with Selvage right behind him, but he was able to maintain his point lead (41.5 over Selvage) and grab his sixth career Knoxville win.
