KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 11, 2010) – Former Knoxville Nationals and Knoxville Raceway promoter P. Ray Grimes headlines Friday’s new “Sixty Minutes in the Trostle Garage With…” autograph sessions at the National Sprint Car Museum in Knoxville. The one-hour sessions will be staged in the air-conditioned museum’s east wing and they are free with a paid museum admission. Others who will be appearing in the Trostle Garage are Knoxville Nationals-winning car owners Bill Chadbourne and Bob Trostle, veteran California sprint car racers Jimmy Sills and Jimmy Boyd, Knoxville Raceway track champions A.J. “Skip” Jackson and Terry McCarl, and long-time parts supplier Shirley Kear of Kear’s Speed Shop in northern Ohio.
The schedule is as follows: 10:30 a.m. – Bill Chadbourne, 11:30 a.m. – A.J. “Skip” Jackson, 12:30 p.m. – Shirley Kear, 1:30 p.m. – Terry McCarl, 2:30 p.m. – Naomi & P. Ray Grimes, 3:30 p.m. – Bob Trostle, Jimmy Boyd & Jimmy Sills.
Also in the museum on Friday are three Knoxville Nationals Fan Fair forums at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Greg Nicol of Speedway Motors will host “Sprint Car Technology in the 21st Century” at 11 a.m. Gary Guehler of Texas Motor Speedway will host “Sprint Car Racing: Was It Better 25 or 50 Years Ago?” at 1 p.m. And Bruce Ellis will host “Meet the Posse” presented by www.hoseheads.com at 3 p.m. The fan fair forums are moderated and they will feature special guests.
The United Trailers National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Golf Classic is Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. at the Bos Landen Golf Club in nearby Pella. The best-shot golf tourney is held in memory of Kevin Gobrecht and it benefits the 501(c)(3) non-profit museum foundation. The ‘Alphabet Soup’ special reception for drivers that have won at least one E-, D-, C-, B- or A-Main in the 49-year history of the Knoxville Nationals championship night. Forty-two drivers have accepted invitations to meet and greet fans at 12 Noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, August 13. The reception costs five dollars per person.
