(August 11, 2010) – The ninth round of Ohsweken Speedway’s Friday Night Thunder hits the track this Friday, August 13. Dave Dykstra now holds a forty-seven point lead in the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car standings. The Port Colborne driver finished third in the feature last Friday night to extend his lead over Kyle Moffit of South Dayton, New York. Campbellville driver Kevin Job is third, followed by Keith Dempster of Alton, and Ohsweken’s Glenn Styres, who won the feature last Friday. Mitchell Brown of Brantford was the highest finishing rookie and now leads the Rookie of the Year chase by two points over Caistor Centre’s Jamie Turner.
Jamie Cox of Cambridge won his second ESSO Thunder Stock feature of the season on Friday night, and now holds the points lead by one point over Port Robinson’s Billy Bleich. Ryan Dinning of Caledonia is also within striking distance, just nineteen points behind, while Caledonia drivers Lee Winger and Mike Thorne round out the top five. Sherkston’s Ed McNamara leads the Rookie of the Year standings.
Trevor Goulding of Welland was the big winner of last Friday’s “Art Hill Memorial 42” for the ESSO Mini Stocks. The win was Goulding’s fourth of the season, and he enjoys a fifty-nine point lead over Brantford’s Craig Erskine. Kevin Hilborn of Brantford is third in the standings, followed by Ohsweken driver Steve Hess, and Caledonia’s Mike Evers. Jake Brown finished ninth in the “Art Hill Memorial 42” and currently leads the ESSO Mini Stock Rookie of the Year chase.
John Cote and Jeremy Hughes had a great race for last week’s Bomber division win, with Cote coming out on top. Kacey Huffman of Hamilton is third, followed by Burlington driver Hughes, and Jesse McDonald of Caledonia.
