The Clash at the Creek

Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team wrapped up racing action in the Midwest for the 2010 season on Saturday as they took on Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota for ‘The Clash at the Creek’.

A total of 29 sprinters signed in for competition at the super fast 3/8-mile track with Dollansky posting the 16th fastest time in qualifying at 11.843 seconds. Missing the heat inversion meant the Karavan Trailers backed #7 would start outside of row three in the first heat where Dollansky would work the highside like much of the leaders and better his position by one at the finish as he got around teammate Sammy Swindell.

With all the attention after the heat race shifted to the A-Main, Dollansky started deep in the pack in the sixteenth position. On the second attempt to start the feature, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ took full advantage of a great start as he rocketed the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim around the highside and into the sixth position with only two laps complete. While the field continued to set a blistering pace, Dollansky closed in on Paul McMahan and Donny Schatz for 4th and 5th but the two made contact coming out of turn four which left Dollansky with no where to go as he was running right behind Schatz. With the red flag stopping action, the Big Game #7 crew got repairs made aside from a bent top wing and Dollansky was able to rejoin the field. Battling an ill-handling race car Dollansky was able to work his way up to seventeenth by a lap 15 caution and thirteenth by a lap 24 caution. Using another good restart with 11 laps remaining, Dollansky was able to work past a few more cars and salvage a top ten finish when the checkered flags flew.

The Big Game Treestands #7 team will now regroup at their shop in nearby Princeton, MN before hitting the road this weekend for a pair of events at Eldora Speedway in Ohio and Lernerville Speedway in Pennsylvania.
