“LEGENDS OF ASCOT” AT PERRIS SATURDAY

USAC CRA old

By Dick Jordan

The “Legends of Ascot” will be remembered this Saturday night as the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars compete at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

The Ascot Park oval closed in 1990 but the legendary track produced some of the sport’s most memorable moments in its long history.

Mike Spencer continues to enjoy a huge lead in the USAC/CRA standings in search of his third title in a row.
The battle for the runner-up spot, however, is heating up, with Cory Kruseman just 32 back of Danny Sheridan with 74 points available Saturday.

USAC Western Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns competition is also slated along with an exhibition of WRA vintage racing machines. Admission to Saturday’s events is only five dollars for those showing military identification.

Saturday’s race will serve as a final tune-up for the upcoming November 4-5-6 Budweiser “Oval Nationals” at the PAS.
