Saturday at the World Finals

Friday program

After multiple attempts to go racing on a cold breezy Friday night were halted by periodic rain showers, Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team headed back to The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Saturday morning for the first of two racing programs.

With ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ topping the charts in the first qualifying session that was held on Thursday, the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim lined up on the outside of row two for the second heat race. Dollansky would get a good start in the 8 lap event and close in on Jason Meyers for the second position but ended up finishing 3rd to earn a spot in the dash. The largest inversion pill, eight, was drawn for the dash where Dollansky would get another good start and rocket up to the sixth position by the opening lap but a tricky turns 3 & 4 that caught many drivers by surprise in the heat races got ahold of Dollansky in the dash as he looped the Karavan Trailers backed sprinter and collected Donny Schatz which flipped the #7.

A thick layer of rubber was laid down on the track due to the day race and the abundant amount of competitors so World of Outlaws officials decided to completely re-work the track after the big block modifieds and late model features and then kick off Saturday’s program with the sprint car feature from Friday. Starting from the tenth position in the 25-lap A-Main, Dollansky’s attempt to charge through the field would be short-lived as the powerplant let loose under the #7 and forced Dollansky to retire from the event.

Saturday program

With no break in the action and Saturday’s program set to get underway the Big Game Treestands #7 crew had to hustle to get the backup car ready for racing.

Qualifying for Saturday’s program was also completed on Thursday as Dollansky turned in the thirty-second fastest lap and would start outside of row four in heat race competition. Dollansky gave it all he had in his heat as he closed on Chad Kemenah for the fifth and final transfer position directly into the main event but ended up finishing 6th. Coming up one position short meant the Big Game Treestands Maxim would have to run the B-Main. In the 20-lap B-Main Dollansky started thirteenth and quickly worked his way to the front but ran out of laps to get around Lucas Wolfe for the final transfer position.

In the Saturday 25-lap A-Main event the Big Game team took a provisional to start twenty-fifth on the grid. When the green flag dropped ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ worked the extreme low line in turns 3 & 4 to pass seven cars on the opening lap and follow Danny Lasoski to the front of the pack. The second main event of Saturday once again turned sour for Dollansky on lap five when Cole Duncan drove the #4 a little to deep into turn 3 and caught the rear end of the #7 spinning both cars. Dollansky would restart at the back of the pack and give it everything he had to work back through the field but a deteriorating track surface would relegate Dollansky to the 18th position when the checkers flew.

With the World Finals signaling the conclusion of the season, the Big Game Treestands #7 team will now spend the offseason at their shop in Princeton, MN as they prepare for the 2011 World of Outlaws season which will be here before you know it when the 40th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals kick off on February 11th.
