Crash Dashes McFadden’s Winning Chances

A crash last Saturday night at Brisbane International Speedway ruined James McFadden’s chances of getting his 2010/11 season World Series Sprintcars (WSS) Championship campaign off to a winning start.

The current Australian Champion was battling for the lead with eventual winner Robbie Farr in the closing stages of the feature race only to have his attempt to take the lead result in a violent crash.

“I was going for the lead and it didn’t exactly go according to plan,” explained McFadden. “In hindsight, I probably should’ve waited another lap and then made my move. I was committed to the pass, but simply ran out of room, then contact was made with Robbie [Farr] and the next thing I knew my front end was knocked out and I started flipping.”

McFadden’s crash ruined what was a blistering feature race charge from position eight in the field and the Scott Milling owned WA # 25 Totally Workwear supported Cool driver said that his car was setup brilliantly.

“The car was perfect for the feature race and it was just a shame for the whole team that I wasn’t able to come away with the victory,” commented McFadden. “Towards the final stages [of the feature race] I started to run around the top in turns three and four and that worked a treat, as the car really run well up there and that was where I made the majority of my passing moves.”

McFadden and his team will now rebuild their damaged car in readiness for the second round of the WSS Championship that is to be held this Saturday night (November 27) at Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway.

“We’ve got a bit of work to do this week to fix the car as we did a lot of damage to the chassis,” the 21-year-old said. “The goal next weekend is to just finish up the front in one piece and bank some much needed points towards getting our World Series campaign on the right track.”

In the 2010/11 season McFadden would like to thank his car owner Scott Milling, his parents Dave (crew chief) and Tania, along with sponsors Totally Workwear, Western Diamond Drillers, KRE Race Engines, OMP, Racer Industries and Cool Chassis for all their wonderful support.
