Tony Hunt of Lincoln, Calif. emerged from Thursday night’s 70th “Turkey Night Grand Prix” events with his fourth AMSOIL USAC Western Sprint Car championship. It’s his sixth USAC driving title, putting him in select company.
Hunt finished second to Kody Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. in Thursday’s 40-lap race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Calif. Swanson piloted the Keith Williams Eagle/Toyota to the win, leading the final 35 laps after passing Davey Hamilton on lap six. Bobby East took third, ahead of JoJo Helberg and Mike Murgoitio. Tanner Swanson was the fastest qualifier with a new track record.
Hunt will be among 2010 USAC champions celebrated at this Friday night’s “Night of Champions” USAC National Awards Dinner in downtown Indianapolis, Ind.
