Dave Brzozowksi, 50, of Avon, Ind. has been named Competition Director for USAC’s three National circle track racing series, Silver Crown, AMSOIL Sprint and Mopar Midget, and will also oversee USAC Technical operations for all of USAC’s various racing series.
Dave has an extensive background in racing, most recently in the role of Team Manager for the IZOD IndyCar Series’ KV RacingTeam.
“I look forward to leading USAC’s National racing series into the new decade,” says Brzozowski, whose USAC ties are well-documented. “I’ve always had an affinity for the USAC brand and I feel fortunate to become part of the administrative team and addressing the challenges that are presented. We have an ambitious schedule ahead of us and my sleeves are already rolled up as we rapidly approach the start of the 2011 campaign.”
A veteran of over 35 years in the sport, Brzozowski has been involved with USAC Sprint and Champ Dirt car teams, working with drivers like Tom Bigelow, Johnny Parsons, Bob East, Don Hawley and Eddie Wirth and car owners Nance Speed Equipment and Glenn Howard. Fabricating and race car repair advanced his racing expertise and he eventually worked his way into IndyCar racing, working with teams like Hemelgarn Racing, Granatelli Racing, Jim Hall-VDS, Pac-West, Players-Forsythe and KV Racing. In 1986 Open Wheel magazine featured a cover article on his experiences with the Louis Senter Champ Dirt car.
He has also been involved with USAC Midgets, CRA Sprint cars, mini sprints and IMCA Modifieds and also served as president for the WTMSA Mini Sprints. In 2003 Dave was an integral part of the team which won the famed Mopar Million sprint race at the Eldora Speedway, led by driver Jac Haudenschild.
“We are extremely fortunate to have Dave’s expertise,” says USAC VP/Race Operations Jason Smith. “He has an extensive background which we feel will adapt to our constantly changing and expanding racing endeavors.”
