Unlucky Seven for Reidy

By Daniel Powell

It wasn’t the best of weekends for Danny Reidy during the 11th and 12th rounds of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship and on both occasions he missed out on a feature race transfer by a single spot.

In what was the second appearance of the WSS Championship this season at Murray Bridge Speedway and Speedway City tracks in South Australia; Reidy had disappointing runs earlier in the night and that affected his end result on the night.

Last Friday night at Murray Bridge Speedway Reidy posted the 20th fastest lap in time trials before he finished fourth in the opening heat race and then failed to finish the second heat race due to a collision with US import Jonathan Allard that knocked out his front end. Due to failing to finish his second heat race, Reidy started the B-main out of position 12 but failed to finish inside the Top 6 transfer by one spot, seventh.

The following night at Speedway City Reidy started proceedings with the 14th fastest time in time trials, but struggled in both of his heat races to finish sixth and seventh respectively. In the B-main Reidy started out of position five and dropped back in the latter stages out of a transfer and finished in seventh.

Reidy, who remains ninth in the WSS Championship standings with 2028 points, is now focused on the lead up to this weekend’s (January 22 and 23) Grand Annual Classic at Premier Speedway (Warrnambool, VIC) with this Wednesday night’s (January 19) Presidents Cup at Avalon Raceway (Geelong, VIC) and Friday night’s (January 21) Kings Challenge at Borderline Speedway (Mt. Gambier, SA).

Reidy would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Camden Neon Signs, P & M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines for all their support throughout the 2010/11 season.
