Bill Rose of Plainfield, Ind. captured Friday night’s 30-lap “John Padjen Classic” Sprint feature in his R & B DRC/Chevy, leading all but one lap of the race.
Rose sits atop the standings as the new series prepares for an April 23 date at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway.
Fast qualifier Bryan Clauson caught Rose on lap 22 but on the following lap became entangled with another car and spun, giving the lead back to Rose. Kyle Hirst finished second in the inaugural USAC Western Classic Racing Series event and was followed by Colby Copeland, Andy Forsberg and Brent Kaeding.
The event drew 29 entries and the visiting USAC National Drivers Champion Clauson paced the field with a new non-winged sprint car track record of 13.566 seconds.
