FORLER SHIFTS FOCUS TO DEVIL’S BOWL AND ASCS NATIONAL TOUR

– TULARE, Calif. (March 21) – Although last weekend was more of a test-and-tune session than a pair of races, the results were anything but satisfying to Logan Forler.

Competing with the World of Outlaws in California, the 17-year-old from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., snuck into the feature on Friday at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway in Hanford by claiming the final transfer position. However, he crashed in the B Main on Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare to conclude the weekend.

“The whole weekend pretty much sucked,” a frustrated Forler said. “We were trying new stuff on the car. It didn’t work.”

Forler and crew changed shocks and other various items on the race car throughout the weekend, focusing on new setups that never paid off.

“We took this past weekend as a test session,” he said. “It was just one of those weekends when you went out and tried new stuff.”

The results for both nights were nearly identical. Forler qualified 23rd, started and finished eighth in the heat races and he started sixth in the B Main at both tracks.

On Friday at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway, he hung on to that sixth position to advance to the feature, which was postponed to March 31 because of rain. However, midway through the B Main on Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway, Forler wrecked into a wall to end his night in eighth – missing a transfer by two spots.

“I messed up,” he said. “I just misjudged it.”

Forler returns to the ASCS National Tour this weekend with the 38th annual Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Friday and Saturday.

“I’m excited to get away from qualifying,” said Forler, who has raced with the World of Outlaws in March after starting the season with four races on the ASCS National Tour.

“I’m excited to go back with the 360 group. It’s kinda more of my ground. I’m used to running with those drivers more than with the World of Outlaws.”

Forler is 13th in points with the ASCS National Tour and second in the Rookie of the Year chase.
