ROSSBURG, OH (April 4) – Coming off a successful debut last season that found 355 entries over the Halloween weekend, Eldora Speedway’s newest entry into the racing world, little eldora speedway, swings into action April 17 with the Spring Nationals for go-karts.

The 1/7 mile clay oval, constructed on the NE corner of the famed Speedway property, was completed late last season and opened in time to host a pair of events. The lid-lifter in early October attracted 255 entries, with an additional 100 class entries three weeks later attesting to the popularity of the oval.

Fourteen classes of karts will make up the Spring Nationals menu, headlined by the Senior Medium class with a $500 to win payday. Other guaranteed payoffs include the Clone Heavy and Senior Caged classes with $250 to win top prizes. In customary kart practice, the remaining classes will be paid a percentage of the entry fees.

A total of eight race meets are on the 2011 docket for little eldora speedway. In keeping with established Eldora tradition, several higher paying events will be announced as part of that slate.

In addition to the 1/7 mile oval, a regulation .25 Midget oval is built into the infield and shares a common front stretch with the kart oval. It actually kicked off the little eldora season last year during the Four Crown Nationals with the first-ever .25 Midget Dirt Nationals under the sanctioning eye of USAC (United States Auto Club). That event drew in 254 entries. Two .25 Midget events are on the plate for this year – the first will be in conjunction with the Kings Royal (July 15 & 16) and will be part of a Triple Crown Series with USAC and Hagerstown (MD) Speedway. The second event will be the 2nd annual Dirt Nationals; again during the Four Crown Nationals (Sept. 23-25) on Eldora’s historic clay oval.
