Newberrytown, PA (April 11, 2010) – On Saturday night, April 10, Coleby Frye won the 20-lap Late Model feature at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. Then on Sunday night, Aaron Ott won a thrilling 25-lap Sprint Car feature event over Danny Dietrich.

On Saturday, Coleby Frye started on the pole position and wired the field to win his first Late Model feature event of the season. Multi-time SSP track Champion, Carl Billet, pursued Frye throughout most of the race, but was involved in a multi-car accident with three laps remaining. His son, Steve Billet inherited the runner-up spot and finished strong in second behind Frye at the end. Randy Christine Jr. followed in third with Justin Ehrhart finishing fourth. John Moser Jr. rounded out the top five. Sixth through tenth place was Tommy Slanker, Carl Billet, Bob Minnich, Matt Adams and Gary Potts, respectively. Coleby Frye and Carl Billet were the heat race winners.

For the second straight year, Doug Bennett started the season off on the right foot by winning the Street Stock season opening main event over a hard charging 2010 SSP Track Champion, Randy Zechman. Zechman came all the way from the rear of the field after receiving a flat tire when he tangled with his son, Dan as he challenged for the lead on lap 4. Dan Zechman returned from his flat tire to finish third behind his father. Jim Palm Jr. finished a close fourth, followed by Tommy Slanker in fifth. Slanker and Scott Thunberg were heat race victors.

Dave Kamp led from start to finish to claim the 20-lap Xtremer Stock Car feature event. Tim Hahn crossed the finish line in second, followed by Cameron Benyou, Johnny Palm and Davey Nester rounding out the top five. Tim Hahn and J.R. Rodriguez won their respective heat races.

Logan Wagner took the lead on lap 19 of the PA Sprint Series 20 lap main event by passing both the leader, Randy Kaylor and a lapped car on the backstretch. Wagner’s win was his first at the Newberrytown oval. Kaylor settled for second, followed by Scott Kerschner, Matt MMountz and Joe Smith. Cliff Conner and Smith each won their qualifying heat races.

On Sunday night, Aaron Ott grabbed the early lead from the front row and never looked back to win the 25-lap Sprint Car Spring Classic main event. Ott was pursued by numerous drivers, but none came close enough until the late stage of the race when Danny Dietrich made a run at Ott in the waning stages of the race. At the end, Dietrich settled for second. Greg Hodnett finished third after starting 15th in the main event, however, Brian Montieth passed the most cars by finishing fourth after starting dead-last (24th) in the feature event. Mark Smith, who mad eit all the way yo second in the middle of the race, fell at the end to round out the top five. Sixth through tenth went to Fred Rahmer, Don Kreitz, Lance Dewease, Brad McClelland and Brent Marks respectively.

Lance Dewease defeated Aaron Ott in the “King of the Hill” match races to earn $500 and the pole position for the feature event. Dewease, Krietz and Marks won their respective qualifying heat races.

In the wingless ARDC Midget feature event, Steve Buckwalter, the 2010 ARDC Midget Champion grabbed the early lead and never looked back as he wired the field from start-to-finish to win the 20 lap feature event. Ryan Smith pursued Buckwalter but never got close enough to challenge for the win and settled for second place. Nick Wean finished third, followed by Tim Buckwalter and Alex Bright. Dusty Heistand, Tim Buckwalter and Ryan Smith were heat race victors.

Racing action returns to the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. featuring quarter midget, kart and Adult Speedcar racing action.

Racing action returns to the Big Track at SSP on Saturday night, April 16 with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors and PENNMAR Vintage Cars.

Saturday will also be the first “Hometown Heroes” night of the season featuring the towns of Manchester, Mount Wolf and York Haven. Before the races begin, the drivers from those hometowns will have the opportunity to display their cars and meet the fans at the front gate of the speedway. The drivers will also be interviewed during the night’s racing program. Also, all fans entering the speedway from that driver’s hometown being honored will be admitted FREE to the grandstands by showing proper photo identification and filling out an information card at the ticket booth.
