SYRACUSE, NY – The 2011 season for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) got off to a very successful start last Saturday night at Can-Am Motorsports Park with St. Pie, Quebec’s Alain Bergeron taking the 28th anniversary season opening event. With the point season underway it’s now on to take on some of the best in the 360 Spring Sprint Nationals at the Black Rock Speedway.
In the extra pursed event which will pay the winner $2,500 many of the stars and cars from the Lucas Oil Tour will be on hand at the Yates County Oval looking to take home the big chunk of change that awaits the winner of the 25 lap A-Main. Leading the brigade will be Bergeron who has had success in the past at the fast 4/10ths mile oval.
The Sprint Nationals marks the first time ESS has visited Black Rock since 2008 and joining Bergeron in the field will be defending champion Steve Poirier, 2009 champ Justin Barger as well as two-time ESS champion and local favorite Lance Yonge. Also expected in the field waving the ESS banner proudly will be 2010 Lane’s Yamaha Rookie of the Year Kevin Ward Jr., Chuck Hebing, Cory Sparks, Shawn Donath, Jeff Cook, Michael Parent, Tommy Wickham, Jason Barney, Mike Stelter, Tyler Rand and others.
The challenge for the ESS faithful will be stiff as the best from the United Racing Company and Patriot Sprint Tour will also be in the field looking for a lucrative payday. A special open draw format using passing points will determine the line-up for the 25 lap finale. Teams wishing to have an early look at the Black Rock oval are encouraged to attend a special Friday night practice session that’s being offered.
It’s the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints, the Black Rock Speedway and the Spring Sprint Nationals…that’s a combination of excitement guaranteed!!
