NEW INDUCTEES TO BE HONORED IN MICHIGAN MOTOR SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Comstock Park, MI — (June 10, 2011) — The Board of Directors for the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame, whose objective is to promote and preserve Michigan’s extensive racing history, are pleased to announce the ten new 2011 inductees.

The inductees include the late Ernie Beckman, from Marshall, who is being inducted for his successful motorcycle racing career; Allan Brown, from Comstock Park, is an author and historian; Marv Carman from Union City is an open wheel racer and car owner; John Doering, Jr, from Flint, and Doug Finley, from Lansing, are top late model racers; Doug Flannery, from Grand Rapids, is one of the top snowmobile engine builders in the country; Doug Kalitta, from Ann Arbor is a top drag racer, along with his late cousin Scott Kalitta; Jerry Makara, originally from Westland and now living in Arkansas, was a multi-time late model champion; and the late Joan Simmons, who was a race promoter.
