From Eldon Butcher
Haubstadt, IN – July 25, 2011. Tri-State Speedway will once again be
hosting the Hoosier Sprint Nationals sanctioned by the Hoosier Tire
Midwest Sprint Car Series. The date for the event is Saturday night
July 30th. Tri-State Speedway, in the form of a quarter mile high
banked dirt oval, is located on U.S. 41 at Haubstadt, IN. The
established race time for qualifying heat races to begin at the track
is 7:30 P.M. C. D. T. Hot laps for the MSCS Sprints and the UMP
Modifieds, which are also on the program, will be held prior to the
heats after track preparation is completed.
To obtain the latest information for this event call the Tri-State
Speedway hot line at 812-768-5995. Admission for this event is $20
for adults and $15 for students with children age 12 and under
admitted free. Pit passes are $30. Tickets can be ordered in
advance by calling 812-768-6025.
This will be the 7th annual Hoosier Sprint Nationals. The 2011
version will pay $5,000 to win the 40 lap MSCS Sprint Car feature.
Kevin Briscoe won the very first installment back in 2005.
The list of past winners of the Hoosier Sprint Nationals beginning
with the 2010 Defending Champion Jon Stanbrough also includes Brady
Short, Hunter Schuerenberg, Daron Clayton, and Briscoe. Five big
events have produced five different winners! The event has been
rained out just once and that was in 2009.
Overall eighteen different drivers have finished somewhere in the top
five in the five previous events held. Brady Short has accumulated
the most top five finishes with three. Shane Cottle has two
runner-up finishes. Kyle Cummins is the only driver to start every
HSN feature held.
Making this year’s Hoosier Sprint Nationals feature event requires a
driver to collect enough passing points during the heat races or
battle their way to one of the top spots in a B Main. The result
will be a challenging program for the drivers and an exciting event
for the fans who will want to be in attendance. The average car
count for this event is a presence of 37 sprint cars with the record
set at 42 sprints in 2006 and equaled in 2007.
