KNOXVILLE, IOWA (July 30, 2011) – This year’s National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (NSCHoF) “Members Only” reception, to be held on the museum’s second floor on Thursday, August 11, at 12:30 p.m., will feature the defending Knoxville Nationals champion Tim Shaffer of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. Award-winning motorsports journalist Dave Argabright will interview ‘the Steel City Outlaw’ about his career, including last year’s magical victory in the 50th annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals.
The annual affair, open only to the non-profit museum’s annual supporting members, was originally slated to feature Eldora Speedway promoter Earl Baltes and his wife Berneice. However, due to health concerns involving the extreme heat that has been sweeping the nation’s mid-section, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee will not be making the trip to the Nationals this year. Tim Shaffer has graciously agreed to be the guest of honor and he will be available for autographs at the reception and photographs by his 2010 brick in the Knoxville Nationals Wall of Champions. Car owners Aaron Call and Janet Holbrook are expected to join the defending All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) titlist at the wall for this special photo opportunity.
Supporting members of the non-profit museum foundation, with one guest each, will be admitted to the free reception starting at 12 Noon. by showing their current museum membership card. The forum will take place on the air-conditioned second floor of the Donald Lamberti National Sprint Car Museum. Those seeking further information on the VIP “Members Only” reception and the museum’s $25 annual supporting membership program are urged to call the museum at 1-800-874-4488.
