ROCHESTER, NY, (August 4, 2011)- In the first year that a point fund has been created for the Four Laps of Fame Dash Races, the drivers of the Patriot Sprint Tour have given the Original Pizza Logs Dash Series approval equivalent to the thumbs-up on the trademark Pizza Logger.
With just three dash events remaining in the 2011 Patriot Sprint Tour Regular Season, Vern Wasson, of Jersey Shore, PA, holds a slim three point margin over rookie Steve Collins. PST Point Leader Jared Zimbardi is just four points back of the top spot while six others are still within range to claim the inaugural series title.
Wasson and Collins are the only two drivers to score a pair of Original Pizza Logs Four Laps of Fame wins this season. Jared Zimbardi, Shayne Ely, Don Adamczyk, Rick Wilson and Patrick Vigneault have also picked up some extra cash in these four-lap events.
The top three in points at the end of the year will cash in on their dash performances, meaning that a host of drivers may need just one more win down the stretch to secure a spot in the money at the 2011 Awards Banquet.
The next Original Pizza Logs Four Laps of Fame comes next Friday, August 12 at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY. The winner of the dash will not only earn six more points towards this title, but earn the ninth starting spot in the $4,000-to-win A-Verdi Championship A-Main.
