Hanover, PA (08/05/11) –One youngster celebrating his third birthday calls him Keith “Pretzel.”

And little Ethan was a happy young man Friday night, as Hamburg’s Keith Prutzman claimed his first win of the year in the 25-lap “358” sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night.

Prutzman started on the outside of the front row, followed polesitter Colt White for the first lap, and then assumed the lead in a bizarre turn of events when four cars, including the #45 of White, went to the pits with flat tires after several cars made contact in turns one and two of the original start.

All four drivers (White, Dale Hammaker, Mike Duncan, Jr., and Arron Spahr) returned to the rear of the field, but Joe Trone, Jr. went to the pits with front end damage and was done for the night.

Prutzman led the rest of the way, with ninth-starting Tim Wagaman crossing a close second and lady driver Jessie Morrison completing the top three.

“It’s easier starting up front, but that red (for a flipping Cris Eash in turn two of lap five) and all those yellows (five) made it tough,” said Prutzman upon exiting his Buck Rubs #28 in victory lane, “I knew all those good drivers were back there, and I knew it was close at the end.”

Close it was. The leaders were on the tail of the rest of the field at the end, and Prutzman’s comfortable lead evaporated to .26 seconds at the finish.

“We destroyed a car here a few weeks back,” said Prutzman, “And had motor problem last week. It’s good to be here.”

Points leader Jeff Rohrbaugh came from 12th starting spot to finish fourth, with 17th-starting Logan Schuchart rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth were 11th-starting Billy Dietrich, Zach Euculano, Austin Hogue, Spahr, and J.B. Cunningham.

Heats for the 21 “358” sprinters were won by White, Prutzman, and Cunningham.

Randy Doty came from eighth starting spot to win his third race of the year in the 20-lap All-American Outlaw feature. Doty took the top spot from polesitter and race-long leader Al Daniels during a six-car race for the lead on lap nine.

Despite a challenge from Fred Cullum when the leaders hit lapped traffic on lap 16, Doty hung on for the win, with Cullum second and Jessie Morrison (doing double-duty) claiming her second third-place finish of the night. Daniels suffered a flat on the last lap and crossed fifth.

Heats for the 13 All-American Outlaws were won by Daniels and Doty.

Leroy Long started on the pole and led every lap of the 4-cylinder stock car feature.

Gary Newell caught Jeremy Ott on the final lap for second.

Only four cars finished the feature, but they all crossed within three-carlengths of each other at the checkered.

Long also claimed the lone heat for the eight 4-cylinder stocks.

A wild limited stock feature was won by 15th-starting Matt Chronister in an event which saw only five of the 19 starters make it to the end.

Wes McDaniel, who started on the pole and went to the rear after a first-lap crash with fellow front-row starter Robbie Carroll, came back through the field to finish second, with Mike Wolf, Chelsea Weaver, and Rod Weaver the only other cars to finish.

Limited stock heats were won by Kyle Rohrbaugh (who blew up while running third in the feature) and McDaniel.
