VANCOUVER, Wash. – Saturday’s Northwest Wingless Tour sprint car series event at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions.
It has been an all too familiar story for everyone involved with the NWWT this year as this is the third time a Northwest Wingless Tour event at Grays Harbor Raceway has been lost to the weather. The series got in just qualifying and a single heat race on May 14th before losing the rest of the program and later the June 18th event was lost altogether as well. The only completed events were run on August 26th and August 27th, which saw Reece Goetz pick up the main event win on both nights.
Only two nights of racing remain for the Northwest Wingless Tour sprint car series this season, as it will close out its third year of competition next Friday and Saturday with the Northwest Non-Wing Nationals at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Oregon. In it’s third year of existence, the Northwest Non-Wing Nationals will be a NWWT-sanctioned event for the first time.
Corey Esteban of Gaston, Ore. holds a commanding 161-point lead over Creswell, Ore.’s Jesse Thistle and looks to clinch his first NWWT championship next weekend.
